The upcoming spinoff Stuart Fails to Save the Universe will include plenty of references for fans of The Big Bang Theory, according to E! News. Lauren Lapkus, who returns as Denise, said viewers should expect “a bunch of Easter eggs” and “lots of cameos.”
Kevin Sussman, who reprises his role as Stuart Bloom, said the show will also answer a long-running fan question by finally showing the basement space beneath Stuart’s comic bookstore. He added that the set looked right to him and said, “I think they nailed it.”
In the HBO Max series, Stuart and Denise are joined by Bert, played by Brian Posehn, and Barry, played by John Ross Bowie. The story follows Stuart after he breaks a device made by Sheldon and Leonard, triggering a multiverse disaster.
According to HBO Max’s description, Stuart must help restore reality after the accident, with support from Denise, Bert and Barry. The series also introduces alternate-universe versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters, and Lapkus said some familiar faces may appear in the show as well.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe premieres July 23 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max.
