Slipknot has confirmed that Sid Wilson is no longer associated with the band. In a statement shared Aug. 14 on the official Instagram account for the group’s Knotfest festival, the band said, “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” and added that they wished him well.
The caption on the post said, “Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson,” noting that the announcement was also briefly posted on the band’s website. E! News said it reached out to a representative for Wilson but had not received a response.
Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 and had spent 28 years as the band’s turntablist, according to the report. The announcement follows earlier rumors that he had been fired from the group.
Before the latest statement, guitarist James Root posted on Instagram Stories on July 31 urging people not to believe everything they read and to wait for more information. The news also comes after Wilson’s recent breakup with Kelly Osbourne, with whom he shares a 3-year-old son, Sidney.
