Slipknot are working on new material with producer Matt Wallace, guitarist Jim Root said in a recent interview on the Ride Bynd podcast, according to NME.
Root said the band has a large amount of music to choose from, describing the material as “so much” and estimating they have at least 50 arrangements. He said the group has been building ideas through jamming, recording parts and then turning them into fuller songs.
He also said the new songs sound unusual while still feeling familiar. Root called the material “so organic” and said it still feels like “Slipknot music.”
Root said the band is taking a flexible approach to writing, revisiting ideas over time and letting them develop. He also praised drummer Eloy Casagrande’s role in the process, saying it has been an honor to jam with him.
Slipknot have not released new music since their 2022 album The End So Far. The band has teased a song called “Long May You Die,” but nothing has been released yet.
