The 21st annual Seeds of Change Gala at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino brought in more than $100,000 for Against Abuse, according to InMaricopa. The event, held Oct. 10, was a sold-out Royal Christmas edition with 500 tickets purchased.
Against Abuse is a nonprofit that has served Pinal County since 1981. The money raised will help cover annual operating costs for the shelter, which has operated since 2005 and has provided housing for hundreds of victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Torri Anderson, a board member of Against Abuse and chair of the gala, said the event brought Maricopa residents together to focus on domestic violence. She said the support from the community was impressive and said she is already looking ahead to planning for 2027.
The gala also featured a live auction of Christmas trees, a longtime favorite part of the event. The top bid of $3,400 went to a Lego-themed tree created by Angel Raymond of A.A. Raymond Law, while InMaricopa’s tree brought in $3,000.
InMaricopa owner Vincent Manfredi said the company has sponsored Seeds of Change for more than 20 years and values the impact it has in the community. The night also included music, dancing and fundraising in support of the nonprofit.
