A Maricopa Unified School District parent is urging voters to support Proposition 416, saying the measure would help students continue to have access to the programs and support they need to succeed, according to InMaricopa.
In a letter to the editor published Oct. 12, the parent wrote that MUSD has played an important role in helping children grow from elementary school through high school. The letter pointed to academic programs, special education services, counseling support and athletics as examples of the district’s work with students.
The writer said Proposition 416 would help MUSD maintain low class sizes, RAM Academy, an alternative path to graduation, and technology investments. The letter also says voting yes on the measure would continue an existing override rather than create a new tax.
The letter argued that strong schools benefit the wider Maricopa community by supporting property values, the local economy and public safety. The writer closed by asking voters to stand with students, teachers and the district’s future.
