Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland is searching for a Japanese macaque named Luka after he escaped from the facility late Sunday night or early Monday morning, according to UPI Odd News.
The monkey was last seen in the nearby Balavil area of Newtonmore. Search teams are using a thermal drone and other methods to try to find him.
The zoo said Luka is not considered dangerous, but it is asking members of the public not to approach him if they see him.
The park also had another Japanese macaque escape in January 2024. That monkey, Honshu, was later safely captured after appearing in residential neighborhoods and was eventually moved to Edinburgh Zoo.
