The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is marking World Elephant Day with a special look at the African savanna elephants living in Elephant Valley, according to UPI Odd News.
The park shared video showing 12,000-pound male elephant Sdudla splashing in the watering hole while the herd’s females take dust baths nearby. The footage also shows Sdudla walking on land and the elephants interacting with one another.
The release of the video was timed to coincide with World Elephant Day on Wednesday. The San Diego Zoo’s YouTube channel is also starting its “Meet the Herd” series the same day.
According to UPI Odd News, the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has spent more than a decade on conservation work in Northern Kenya, including support for the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary’s mobile veterinary unit for orphaned elephants.
