Veteran U.K. dubstep producer Rusko has announced that he is taking an indefinite break from music and touring, according to Billboard.
In a statement shared on social media on July 17, Rusko said he had been ignoring his mind and body for too long before reaching what he described as a serious breaking point. He wrote that it became clear he was dealing with a mental breakdown and that he needed to step away for the foreseeable future.
Rusko also apologized to fans for any upcoming shows he will miss, saying their support over the years has meant everything to him. He added that he is focusing on healing and recovery, and said he cannot promise a return, though he hopes it is not goodbye forever.
The comments on his post included support from fellow bass artists such as Ravenscoon, Levity and LSDream. Rusko previously paused his career in 2017 while undergoing treatment for stomach cancer, and later announced that he was cancer-free. His most recent release was the March track “Professor X,” a collaboration with Marco Strous.
