Taylor Swift fans were quick to notice unusual changes to the Spotify canvases for three songs on July 19, prompting new speculation that the singer could be hinting at her self-titled debut album, according to E! News.
The altered backgrounds appeared on “I Knew It, I Knew You,” the piano version of that song, and “Blank Space,” with the colors shifting to green, purple and red. By July 20, the images seemed to have gone back to their original look.
Even with the change lasting only briefly, Swifties filled social media with theories about whether the updates were teasing a Taylor’s Version release or possibly a new album altogether. Swift, who is known for leaving Easter eggs ahead of major announcements, has kept fans guessing.
The debate comes as her debut album nears its 20th anniversary on Oct. 24. Still, E! News noted it is not clear whether the Spotify changes were intentional or meaningful.
Swift has already rerecorded several of her early albums and, after a long battle over her master recordings, said in May 2025 that she had secured ownership of her music through a deal with Shamrock Capital.
