Rick Astley joined Blossoms onstage for a performance of “Joke About Divorce” during the band’s set at Tramlines Festival, according to NME. The surprise moment took place on the Sarah Nulty Main Stage at Sheffield’s Hillsborough Park on July 25.
“Joke About Divorce” is the lead single from Blossoms’ forthcoming sixth studio album, “Songs From The Wedding Cake.” Astley also sings backing vocals on the studio version of the song and appears in its music video.
During the same set, Blossoms played “Meet Me In Love” live for the first time. The song features backing vocals from Declan McKenna, and its video stars Maya Jama and Callum Scott Howells.
Astley and Blossoms have worked together before. They first performed together in London in 2021, covering The Smiths, and later reunited for a secret Smiths covers set at Glastonbury Festival in 2023. “Songs From The Wedding Cake” is due out on October 2 via ODD SK / Distiller Records.
