Pitchfork has shared a new roundup of albums worth hearing now, spotlighting releases from Lambchop, Julia Holter, GB, Diamond* and several other artists.
The music site says its weekly feature is meant to help listeners sort through the steady flow of new releases available on streaming services. The selections are independently chosen by Pitchfork editors, according to the publication.
Among the albums highlighted is Lambchop’s Punching the Clown, which was shaped after bandleader Kurt Wagner heard a form of call-and-response gospel known as lined out singing. Pitchfork says the record features a full choir led by Blake Morgan and leans into pared-back ballads and modern hymns.
Also included is Julia Holter’s Materia, which revisits material from her 2024 album Something in the Room She Moves with new versions, along with other tracks such as the 10-minute improvisation “My Twin.” The roundup also mentions new releases from artists including Westside Cowboy, Wild Pink and Denzel Curry with Kenny Beats.
