Phil Collins says he is looking forward to running into Oasis at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this fall, according to Stereogum.
In a new interview with Mojo, Collins said the inductees have been invited to a lunch before the ceremony, which he expects will bring him face to face with the band. Noel Gallagher has mocked Collins for years, once calling him “the antichrist of music” and making other harsh comments about his work.
Collins said he has since tried to make sense of Gallagher’s criticism. He noted that Gallagher once said Collins’ performance scared him when he attended a Genesis show while “completely out of it” in the 1980s, and Collins suggested the song “Mama” may have been what set him off.
Collins also said he is willing to give Gallagher the benefit of the doubt and assume he does not truly believe he is the antichrist. The Rock Hall induction ceremony is set for Nov. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
