Phil Collins says he nearly died in 2024 while dealing with alcohol addiction, according to Rolling Stone.
In a new interview with the Sunday Times, the Genesis singer said he was first hospitalized in Switzerland in November 2023 because of his drinking. He was released before Christmas, then returned to the hospital a few weeks later and was placed in intensive care, where he was unconscious.
Collins said his kidneys and other organs were failing, and that friends and family feared they might not see him again. He said his five children rushed to the hospital and that doctors considered whether to keep him on life support.
The singer said he spent seven months recovering in the hospital. Collins told the Sunday Times he feels lucky to have survived and said he has not had a drink since.
