Olivia Wilde says turning 40 played a major role in her decision to take on her performance in the upcoming film I Want Your Sex, according to E! News.
Wilde told the outlet at the movie’s July 28 premiere that she felt great after reaching that milestone and was eager to jump into the project. In the film, she plays artist Erika Tracy, who brings in a younger man, Elliot, played by Cooper Hoffman, to serve as her sexual muse.
The actor and director said she likes the idea of reclaiming empowered sexuality and embracing the notion that people can grow more confident with age. She added that the movie suggests audiences should keep exploring throughout life.
Wilde also said she is proud of the film’s tone, describing it as unpretentious, bold, fearless and meant to be fun. I Want Your Sex opens in theaters July 31.
