Afroman has filed a lawsuit against one of the officers involved in the 2022 raid on his home, according to Rolling Stone. The musician, whose real name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, is suing Brian K. Newland in Adams County, Ohio.
The complaint accuses Newland of malicious prosecution, abuse of process, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and tortious interference with contract. Foreman’s filing comes after he previously won a defamation lawsuit brought by officers from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
In the summer of 2022, at least nine officers searched Foreman’s home on suspicion of drug trafficking and kidnapping. According to the article, the raid turned up no drugs and no evidence of kidnapping, and no charges were filed.
Foreman later used footage from the raid in a series of music videos, which led the officers to sue him in 2023 for defamation, false light, and other claims. In March, the officers lost that case after seeking $3.9 million in damages.
Foreman’s new lawsuit seeks at least $150,000, including at least $25,000 for attorney’s fees and costs. Attorneys for Foreman and Newland did not immediately respond to requests for comment, according to Rolling Stone.
