Olivia Dean brings out Sam Fender for first live U.S. performance of 'Rein Me In'

Olivia Dean surprised the crowd at Lollapalooza on Saturday night by inviting Sam Fender onstage for a live performance of “Rein Me In,” according to NME. It marked the first time the song has ever been performed live in the United States.

Dean headlined the third night of the festival at Chicago’s T-Mobile stage and spent part of the set reflecting on her album, “The Art of Loving.” She told fans the record had changed her life and said it had been an important part of her own personal growth.

Before bringing out Fender, Dean also highlighted the song’s success in the UK. She noted that “Rein Me In” had just broken the Guinness World Record for the longest-running UK Number One single in history.

According to NME, the track has now spent 19 weeks at the top of the UK Official Singles Chart, surpassing Frankie Laine’s “I Believe,” which held the previous record for 73 years. The collaborative version was officially released last summer after the pair first performed it together at Fender’s shows in London and Newcastle.

The article also notes that Dean and Fender previously performed the song together during Dean’s headline set at London’s O2 in May. The duo won Song of the Year at the BRIT Awards 2026 for the collaboration, while Fender later received Songwriter of the Year at the Ivor Novellos and Dean won Best New Artist at the BET Awards last month.
