Oasis’ ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ named UK’s biggest studio album

Oasis’ 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? has been named the UK’s biggest studio album of all time, according to NME and the Official Charts Company.

The record is ranked at Number Three on the overall list of biggest albums, based on combined UK sales and streaming data. It sits behind two Greatest Hits compilations, from Queen and ABBA, which hold the top two spots.

According to the Official Charts Company, Morning Glory has reached 6.2 million UK chart units so far. Its streams also rose after Oasis’ Live ’25 reunion tour last summer.

The album’s inclusion comes as the UK Official Albums Chart marks its 70th anniversary on July 22. Oasis’ debut album, Definitely Maybe, also appears on the list at Number 39.

The Official Charts’ Becca Monahan and Chris Austin praised the album’s long-lasting influence, saying the record remains a defining British release that continues to connect with fans across generations. They also said the anniversary is a chance to recognize the albums that have shaped music culture over seven decades.
