Noah Kahan surprised fans at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on August 15 by bringing out Chappell Roan for a live performance of her song “California,” according to NME.
Kahan was playing the stadium as part of The Great Divide Tour and performed a 27-song set for a sold-out crowd before Roan joined him during the final stretch of the show.
Roan’s 2023 song “California” appears on her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and was written about leaving Missouri to build a career in Los Angeles. While on stage, she told the audience, “Noah always stands up for me, he’s a good person, for real,” before Kahan accompanied her on acoustic guitar.
The outlet notes that Kahan has publicly supported Roan on several occasions, including at their 2024 co-headline show at Iowa’s Hinterland Festival, and has also matched a $25,000 donation she made to help musicians access healthcare. Kahan’s tour continues in North America this week before heading to Glasgow, Manchester and London in November.
