Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Reece Weaver is set to make her Broadway debut in Chicago, according to E! News. The 24-year-old will begin a six-week run as Roxie Hart on Sept. 7.
Weaver told E! News in June that performing on stage had “always been my dream.” She said she attended performing arts middle school and high school in Florida, where she was classically trained in a range of styles and grew to love performing.
In that interview, Weaver said she would have been happy to “just be a tree in the background,” but also said Chicago was one of the shows she most hoped to do because of its Fosse style. She added that playing Roxie would be a different kind of personality to portray, which she saw as a fun challenge.
The E! News story also noted that Weaver joins a list of other reality stars and celebrities who have taken on Broadway or appeared in Chicago, including Ariana Madix, Pamela Anderson, Whitney Leavitt and Kandi Burruss.
