Nicole Kidman says she was not thinking about career consequences when she married Tom Cruise at a young age, according to E! News. In an interview published Aug. 13 with British Vogue, she said the relationship felt natural and that she was simply in love.
Kidman said people warned her that being married to a major movie star could affect her career, but she said she did not care at the time. She added that she was only in her early 20s when the marriage pushed her into the spotlight.
The Oscar winner said she believes some people are naturally driven to work, and she counted herself among them. She also said that growing up in fame through her marriage helped her become comfortable with public attention.
Kidman has previously said some of her biggest career moments came after her marriage to Cruise ended, including her 2003 Oscar win for The Hours. In earlier comments to E! News, she also pointed to Moulin Rouge!, The Hours and The Others as a remarkably busy and exciting stretch in her career.
