The New York Film Festival has announced the main slate for its 64th edition, with films from James Gray, Ava DuVernay and Tony Gilroy among the 32 selections, according to ABC News.
Organizers at Film at Lincoln Center said Wednesday that the festival will run from Sept. 25 through Oct. 12. Gray’s “Paper Tiger,” a crime drama set in Queens starring Adam Driver and Miles Teller, will open the festival.
Gilroy’s “Behemoth!,” starring Pedro Pascal as a cellist, will have its world premiere in New York and serve as the centerpiece gala. DuVernay’s documentary “14th,” described as a follow-up to her “13th,” will also premiere at the festival and close it.
The lineup also includes returning NYFF filmmakers such as Pedro Almodovar, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Andrew Haigh, Radu Jude, Lee Chang-dong, Mike Leigh, Pawel Pawlikowski and Ira Sachs. Other titles include Chris Rock’s “Misty Green,” William and David Greaves’ documentary “Once Upon a Time in Harlem,” and Julia Loktev’s “My Undesirable Friends: Part II — Exile.”
