A new documentary focused on the late Neil Peart, Rush’s drummer and lyricist, is set to premiere on Canada’s CBC network on Sept. 23, according to Rolling Stone.
“Neil Peart: No One’s Disciple” will explore Peart’s life and include interviews with Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, along with several well-known drummers discussing his impact on music.
For the film, Lee and Lifeson also recorded rehearsal-hall performances of Rush songs with guest drummers Stewart Copeland of The Police, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Tool’s Danny Carey. Lee and Lifeson had previously played with Smith and Carey at a Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in 2022, but had not performed with Copeland before, Rolling Stone reported.
Peart, who died of cancer in 2020, is widely regarded as one of rock’s greatest drummers. Lee and Lifeson are currently touring with drummer Anika Nilles, and each show includes multiple tributes to Peart.
