Rene Chavez, a Palo Brea resident, is now running a State Farm agency in Maricopa after years of working in banking and corporate insurance, according to InMaricopa. He said he first imagined becoming a State Farm agent when he was 19 years old and saw a brochure about the job.
Chavez said he and his wife moved to Maricopa because he saw it as a safe, clean and growing community. He said the value of their home and the commute from Mesa were worth it for the quality of life they found in town.
In the interview, Chavez said what he enjoys most about insurance is helping people during both good times and difficult moments. He described assisting customers with tasks like uploading photos after an accident and said that kind of support can make a big difference for families.
As a small-business owner, Chavez said he values being able to make decisions for his team without going through a corporate chain of command. He also said flexibility matters to him because it allows him to support employees dealing with family responsibilities or daycare issues.
Chavez also shared advice for customers, saying people should consider life insurance earlier in life because it can cost less when purchased young. He noted that his own family faced funeral expenses without life insurance after his father died in 2018, and he said his office also helps customers look for discounts that can lower their costs.
