Nara Smith says her 2-year-old daughter, Whimsy Lou, is in remission after being diagnosed with an unnamed form of cancer last year, according to E! News.
In a video shared to Instagram on July 17, Smith said she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, had been processing the diagnosis privately for months before deciding to speak about it. She said they had wanted to wait until treatment was finished and they knew the outcome before sharing their family’s experience.
Smith said the family chose to open up in part because of what they learned while going through chemotherapy and seeing how expensive care can be for families. She said she has been looking into charities and foundations to support and created a GoFundMe page that links to other families raising money for children in treatment.
She also said she and Lucky are taking life “day by day” as they try to return to routine. Smith thanked followers for their messages and support, and sent love to other families facing childhood cancer.
After first revealing Whimsy’s diagnosis on July 2, Smith later shared that the child had lost her hair during treatment but that “her curls are returning,” according to her social media posts.
