Mountainside Fitness is once again being considered for Maricopa, according to InMaricopa. Phoenix-based Evolve Ventures has filed pre-application paperwork for a planned 40,000-square-foot location near John Wayne Parkway and Honeycutt Avenue.
Public records reviewed by InMaricopa show the gym would be located just south of Lowe’s Home Improvement and Trulieve Dispensary. A project narrative says the facility is intended to give local residents access to athletic training spaces, group fitness areas and health amenities.
Mountainside Fitness is the largest locally owned fitness chain in Arizona, with more than 20 locations statewide and several more planned to open later this year, according to the report.
This is not the first time a Mountainside Fitness location has been proposed in Maricopa. In 2006, Hatten Holdings bought land at John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road with plans for a gym, but the company later said it would not open as scheduled after breaking ground. A construction timeline for the new proposal has not yet been confirmed.
