Mick Jagger has said he regrets never meeting Elvis Presley, explaining that he listened to John Lennon when Lennon told him not to do it, according to NME.
Jagger discussed the moment on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, saying Lennon advised him that you should never meet your heroes. “And so I didn’t. I took John’s advice,” Jagger recalled.
He said he now thinks that decision was a mistake. “It was really stupid of me, really. I’d love to have met Elvis,” he added, noting that Lennon gave him the same advice more than once.
The article also notes that Lennon and the other Beatles met Presley only once, in 1965, while Paul McCartney has spoken more positively about that encounter. Jagger’s comments come after The Rolling Stones released their 25th album, Foreign Tongues, last week.
