Maynard James Keenan, known for his work with Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer, is opening a new sushi restaurant in Cottonwood, Arizona, according to Stereogum.
The restaurant, called Queen B Sushi, is scheduled to open Sept. 4 at 816 N. Main St. in Old Town Cottonwood. Keenan has already built a broader business presence in Arizona’s Verde Valley, including a winery, and he and his wife Jennifer expanded Queen B Vinyl Café two years ago to add a café and coffee roaster.
In a statement shared by the outlet, Keenan said his love of sushi dates back to the 1980s and grew after a 2000 Japanese tour with A Perfect Circle. He also described carrying a pair of titanium and hardwood chopsticks with him for years.
Queen B Sushi will be led by Culinary Director Chef Brett Vibber, who has worked at Roka Akor locations in London, Hong Kong and the U.S. The kitchen team also includes Chef Chuhiro “Thomas” Kato, who trained under Nobu Matsuhisa and Masaharu Morimoto, and Arizona native Chef Sheridan “Sher” Chase, according to Stereogum. Reservations are already open.
