Matthew Rhys says he would be eager to appear on Keri Russell’s Emmy-nominated series The Diplomat, and he thinks Russell would feel the same about joining Widow’s Bay, according to E! News.
In an exclusive interview, Rhys said he would jump at the chance to do a crossover and even pitched a storyline involving a G7 summit on Widow’s Bay. He joked that if Rhys’s Widow’s Bay character Tom Loftis crossed paths with Russell’s Ambassador Kate Wyler, he already knew what would happen to Rufus Sewell’s Hal Wyler: “He’d have to die.”
Rhys also said the writers of Widow’s Bay have begun outlining season two, and he hopes to see Tom face a “Dracula-Frankenstein mashup” type of monster. He added that he would like more scenes set on the water, after enjoying filming the show’s maritime episodes in Massachusetts.
Off screen, Rhys said his love of boating led him and a group of others to help take over the Brooklyn Bridge Marina two years ago. According to E! News, the group has worked with Brunswick Corporation and other partners on programs including a youth sailing club, Brooklyn Boat Works, and water stewardship efforts with the Billion Oyster Project.
