Mariah Carey is marking the 25th anniversary of her Glitter soundtrack with a first-ever vinyl reissue and a digital version that includes unreleased recordings, according to Rolling Stone.
The soundtrack, tied to the 2001 film Glitter, has taken on a new life with fans over the years even though the movie itself was poorly reviewed and struggled at the box office. The film also arrived shortly after the Sept. 11 attacks, which added to its difficult release.
In a statement, Carey said she never would have imagined celebrating Glitter’s 25th anniversary “unironically.” She added that the album was made with care and that it was hard to see it become a joke, while thanking fans who supported it over the years.
Carey also said she found a few recordings in the vault to share in October. She has already released one of them, a newly reworked version of “Didn’t Mean to Turn You On” featuring Rochelle Jordan.
The anniversary edition of Glitter is available to preorder now in several formats, including limited-edition “Glittering Pink” and “Midnight Purple” 2-LP versions.
