Madness have restored their 1981 film Take It Or Leave It in 4K, with the movie set to return to cinemas in the UK and Ireland later this year, according to NME.
The part-mockumentary follows the band as they were rising to become one of Britain’s most popular groups. It features the members playing themselves and looks back on the arguments, lineup changes and gigs that shaped their early story.
The film will screen in cinemas from October 2, while the long-awaited Blu-ray debut is scheduled for October 19. A premiere at BFI Southbank’s NFT1 on September 30 will include a Q&A with members of Madness.
According to NME, the BFI restoration will also appear on a Limited Edition Blu-ray and DVD release with new interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, the original trailer and nine Madness music videos. First pressings will include an illustrated collector’s booklet with new writing and Neil Tennant’s original review.
