Liu Yuning expands his sound with J Balvin collaboration and new album rollout

Chinese singer Liu Yuning has reached a new career milestone with his latest single “JUMP,” according to Billboard. The release is part of Billboard China and QQ Music’s recent global campaign and has brought him a series of featured promotional opportunities.

The track pairs Liu Yuning with J Balvin and mixes rock with traditional Chinese instruments such as the pipa, guzheng, erhu and Tang-style drums. Billboard says the song also interpolates Van Halen’s 1983 Hot 100 No. 1 hit, while Liu Yuning’s rap delivery helps bridge Eastern and Western musical styles.

At the same time, Liu Yuning is rolling out his second solo album, his first full-length project in five years. Instead of releasing it all at once, he is issuing the album track by track, with nine songs available so far.

Among the new releases is “Not Too Late,” a warm rock ballad written and produced by Penny Tai. Billboard says the song reflects on the pressures of life in the spotlight, while later tracks like “Door” and “I Want” explore contrasting moods of isolation and release.

Outside his solo work, Liu Yuning has also become a sought-after singer for television soundtracks. Billboard reports that he has recently contributed songs to several dramas, including Yu Ting Yao and The Road to Splendor.
