Lily Allen says audience interaction would ruin her West End Girl tour performance

Lily Allen has responded to criticism over her limited audience interaction on the ‘West End Girl’ tour, saying that speaking to the crowd would “ruin the performance,” according to NME.

The tour features Allen performing her 2025 album ‘West End Girl’ in full, with the shows staged as theatrical pieces where she appears alone on stage, sings to backing tracks and does not address the audience.

In an interview with Perfect, Allen said she is not looking for crowd response and added that she can barely hear or see much from the stage because of her in-ears and the setup. She said she cannot come out of character without damaging the show.

Allen has previously said the format was her “artistic choice” and that the “fourth wall helps with the storytelling.” NME reported that the tour is currently on a break before returning to North America next month, with several shows moved to smaller venues in July and the Montreal date cancelled.
