NME’s latest The Cover star, Kamal., has released an exclusive playlist to accompany his feature, according to NME.
The rising British artist’s playlist, titled “Songs I Wish I Wrote,” includes music from Phoebe Bridgers, Frank Ocean, Norah Jones and other artists.
Kamal. is featured in this week’s edition of The Cover, NME’s weekly spotlight on emerging talent. His profile was written by Kyann-Sian Williams and photographed by Gabriella Drew.
According to NME, Kamal. has spent the past six years building a following with his quiet vocals and reflective songwriting. He signed to Neighbourhood Recordings at 16, released the track “Blue” in 2020 and has earned support from Billie Eilish, Dave and Central Cee.
His debut album, “How The F*** Does Everybody Else Manage?”, was released last week and features Dave, Natanya and Keaton Henson. Kamal. said the record grew out of his attempts to process difficult contradictions in the world around him, including inequality and social media culture.
