Josh Grisetti’s family is speaking publicly after the actor’s death by suicide on July 10 at age 44, saying they have been comforted by the response from friends, colleagues and fans, according to E! News.
In a GoFundMe page created in his honor three days later, his loved ones wrote that their “hearts are profoundly broken” and described Grisetti as a strong creative presence in Broadway, television, film and academia.
The family said the fundraiser was launched after many people asked how they could help Grisetti’s wife, Mackenzie Grisetti, and the rest of the family. They said money raised beyond what is needed for immediate end-of-life logistics will be donated to the Entertainment Community Fund, which offers mental health services, crisis counseling and support groups for people in the arts.
Grisetti appeared in projects including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Knights of Prosperity, while also building a stage career. After the COVID-19 pandemic, he moved further into teaching, earning an MFA in performance pedagogy from Loyola Marymount University and working at Cal State Fullerton, according to the report.
Friends and co-stars including Rob McClure and Sierra Boggess also shared tributes, remembering Grisetti as a gifted performer, teacher and friend.
