Josh Duhamel is sharing more about the difficult pregnancy his wife, Audra Mari, went through before the couple welcomed their baby girl, Rocca. In an interview on the July 23 episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, Duhamel said the experience was especially tough on Mari.
According to E! News, Mari was diagnosed with placenta previa, a condition in which the placenta sits between the baby and the cervix and can create a risk of severe bleeding during delivery. Duhamel said that because of the diagnosis, doctors planned a C-section to reduce the chance of complications.
He said the family knew about the condition in advance and were able to prepare with the help of modern medicine. Duhamel also explained that Mari decided to head to the hospital earlier than scheduled after having a troubling dream about him tapping her on the nose.
That change of plan led to a rushed trip to the hospital, and Duhamel said their daughter was born about two hours later. He also thanked the staff at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, for helping them feel confident while welcoming their baby girl.
Duhamel said their son Shepherd has been adjusting to life as a big brother, though he joked that the toddler sometimes accidentally kicks the baby in the head.
