Hayden Panettiere’s music career began well before Nashville, according to Billboard. As a child, she contributed vocals to film and television projects, including songs for Ice Princess and Bridge to Terabithia.
In 2000, Panettiere received a Grammy nomination at age 10 for A Bug’s Life Read-Along, making her one of the youngest nominees in Grammy history. Billboard notes that the Recording Academy lists her as a one-time nominee.
Panettiere later tried to build a recording career outside of acting with the 2008 release of “Wake Up Call,” her first single not tied to a role. The song was released digitally through Hollywood Records, which had also been planning an album for her.
Her biggest musical impact came through Juliette Barnes on Nashville, where she performed dozens of songs over the show’s six-season run. Billboard says her recordings landed 11 times on the Hot Country Songs chart, including “Telescope,” “Undermine,” “Wrong Song” and “Don’t Put Dirt on My Grave Just Yet.”
“Telescope” became one of the most recognized songs from the series and peaked at No. 36 on Hot Country Songs in December 2012. The first Music of Nashville soundtrack also debuted in the top 15 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 4 on Top Country Albums, selling 56,000 copies in its first week.
