Empire Of The Sun singer Luke Steele said he uses AI when asked about the technology during a recent interview with iHeartRadio at the Osheaga Festival, according to Stereogum.
When the interviewer pressed him on whether he used AI, Steele replied, “Of course!” He then described it as “just another tool” and compared it to “a really smart guitar pedal.”
Steele also said artists need to be careful because AI is powerful and can help musicians who know how to use it. He added that those who oppose it should be cautious, saying it could “swallow you like a boogie monster at night.”
Stereogum noted that Steele’s comments seemed less like a full-throated endorsement and more like a belief that AI is likely to remain part of the future of music whether artists like it or not.
