Gurriers have released a new single titled “Nothing Happens Twice,” the latest preview from their second album, according to NME.
The Dublin band’s upcoming record, “Nobody’s Coming To Save You,” is due out on September 25 through Play It Again Sam. The song follows earlier previews “Erasure,” the title track, and “Party Lines.”
According to NME, “Nothing Happens Twice” draws inspiration from Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot” and is meant as an absurdist look at the modern world. The track mixes existential lyrics with ideas tied to the “dead internet” theory, along with themes of political unease, digital alienation and dark humour.
The single is paired with an official video directed by Thomas James, who said the shoot took place in drummer Pierce O’Callaghan and guitarist Mark MacCormack’s hometown and was shaped into a “psycho fairy trip through grief and ritual.”
Gurriers are set to play several festivals and a UK and European headline tour later this year, with an outstore record shop tour also planned for next month.
