Sid Wilson has added to the uncertainty surrounding his place in Slipknot after introducing himself as a current member during a recent event, according to NME.
Wilson appeared this week at the inaugural World Scratch Invitational, where he was introduced as a co-host. When he took the microphone, he called himself “No. 0, from the world famous Slipknot,” per Loudwire.
The comments came after a TMZ report in late July claimed Wilson had been permanently removed from the band. So far, however, Slipknot has not issued any official statement confirming that report.
In response to the speculation, guitarist Jim Root urged fans on social media to wait for more information. In an Instagram Story, he wrote, “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile,” before adding that people should wait until there was more information.
NME also noted that Kelly Osbourne recently posted and deleted messages that appeared to address Wilson, including remarks about child support and co-parenting their three-year-old son. The outlet said neither Wilson nor Slipknot has commented publicly on the reports about his status in the band.
