The Grateful Dead’s annual “Meet-Up At The Movies” is returning with screenings of the band’s June 17, 1991 concert at Giants Stadium, according to Rolling Stone.
This year’s presentation includes an exclusive clip of the band performing “Brown-Eyed Women,” featuring Jerry Garcia, Bobby Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Bruce Hornsby and Vince Welnick. The show is also known for “Dark Star” appearing throughout the set, along with songs including “Eyes of the World,” “Ship of Fools” and “China Doll.”
Rolling Stone reports that the concert was recorded on 48-track analog tape and mixed by Jeffrey Norman. David Lemieux, the band’s legacy manager and archivist, said the Summer Tour of 1991 is widely regarded as one of the strongest of the 1990s, and that this Giants Stadium show has grown in reputation over time.
The screenings will also feature a preview of “Shakedown Street” from the upcoming Merriweather 6/30/85 release, which is part of the Summer Magic 1985 box set due Sept. 18. “Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies” is set for Aug. 8 and Aug. 10, during the Days Between, which honors Jerry Garcia from Aug. 1 through Aug. 9.
