Godflesh shares 'Living/Ending' ahead of final album 'Decay'

Godflesh has released a new single called “Living/Ending,” which serves as the first preview of the band’s upcoming album, Decay, due Sept. 25, according to Rolling Stone.

The song points back to the group’s early industrial-metal sound, with Rolling Stone describing it as recalling the harsh feel of the band’s debut Streetcleaner while carrying the heaviness of the Slavestate EP.

Justin Broadrick said in a statement that the band expects Decay to be its penultimate album. He said he believes music needs discipline and that there comes a point where “enough is enough.”

Broadrick previously said on Instagram in March that Godflesh would stop touring after he underwent hernia surgery and could no longer scream the way the music requires. He also said the final Godflesh album could be completed by the end of 2026, though without shouting.

Godflesh reunited in 2009 after a seven-year break and has released several albums since then, including Purge in 2023, which Rolling Stone ranked No. 2 on its list of the best metal albums of that year.
