French DJ and electronic music artist Kavinsky has died at the age of 50, according to NME. His real name was Vincent Belorgey.
Authorities found him at his home in Paris around 10:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday, July 28, after a neighbor contacted emergency services because the artist had not been seen for several days, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.
Le Figaro reported that the cause of death is believed to have been a stroke. The outlet also said Belorgey had told people close to him in the days before his death that he was suffering from severe headaches.
Paris police said an investigation has been opened to determine the cause of death, and first responders did not find any suspicious elements at the scene, according to France24. Kavinsky was best known for his song Nightcall, which was featured in the 2011 film Drive and later performed during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Tributes have begun appearing online following the news. Kavinsky released his first record, OutRun, in 2013 under that name and later returned in 2022 with the album Reborn.
