The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward for information tied to the death of a newborn baby found in a portable toilet at the Electric Forest festival campgrounds in Rothbury, Michigan, according to NME.
Michigan State Police said the infant’s body was discovered last month by an employee of a restroom vending company during routine maintenance. Investigators have asked anyone who was in the area and noticed anything unusual to come forward.
Authorities have released few details about the case, including the baby’s race, gender and exact cause of death. However, Michigan State Police said a preliminary autopsy indicates the infant was viable and was born alive.
In a statement shared Monday, July 13, the FBI said it is assisting Michigan State Police with the investigation and is offering the reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of those involved. Police said they are withholding certain evidence and details to protect the integrity of the investigation.
