Fatboy Slim has invested in Music Venue Properties and helped secure the future of The Pipeline, a DIY punk venue in Brighton, according to NME.
The venue has now become the 10th space owned through the campaign, which buys small music venues to keep them operating long term. The initiative aims to give venues community ownership and more stability.
Speaking to the BBC, Norman Cook, who performs as Fatboy Slim, said venues like The Pipeline remind him of starting out and the excitement of playing live. He said rooms like that are where dreams are made, memories are formed, and big artists develop their craft.
Cook also said it is difficult for venues to survive in the current economic climate, and that the campaign can act as a supportive landlord that avoids raising rent and offers long-term security. Other venues saved by the project include spaces in Atherton, Preston, Swansea, Newport, Dover, Southampton, Bristol, Leeds and Sheffield.
