Amy Duggar King says she is not expecting a family reunion with Jim Bob Duggar, Michelle Duggar, or many of her cousins anytime soon.
In an interview with Oxygen, the 19 Kids and Counting alum said she has had no contact with the couple and has chosen to keep boundaries in place. She added that she does not know what is happening on that side of the family and described the situation as difficult.
Amy said she remains close with cousin Jill Duggar and would be open to talking with other cousins if they were willing to have an honest conversation. She also said she wants to protect her son and is only interested in reconnecting with people she believes are safe and trustworthy.
She said her connection with Jill grew stronger after the news of Joseph Duggar’s arrest, and she expressed sympathy for the pain Jill has experienced through the family’s scandals. Amy said she does not hate her relatives, but wants them to be healthy, truthful, and protective of children.
The interview also touched on the Duggar family’s broader history, including Jim Bob and Michelle’s long marriage, their work in conservative causes, and the legal troubles that have surrounded Josh Duggar in recent years, according to E! News and Oxygen.
