Travis Scott says Oasis is among the artists helping shape his upcoming album, which will follow his 2023 release Utopia, according to NME.
In an interview with Variety, the Houston rapper said he is working hard to push the sound in a new direction. He described the project as something he wants to make unlike anything he has done before.
Scott said the album is being influenced by a wide mix of acts, including Oasis, Parliament, Don Toliver, Raphael Saadiq, Daft Punk and Van Halen. He pointed to Van Halen’s “mega-choruses and hard bass lines” as one of the reference points.
He also said his touring experience is affecting how he thinks about the record, explaining that he wants to create something that reaches people no matter where they are in the venue. Scott added that he wants to bring back more true in-person experiences rather than have everything become digital.
