Demi Lovato’s 'Cool for the Summer' and 'Confident' go 5x Platinum

Two of Demi Lovato’s biggest songs have reached a new sales milestone, according to Billboard. “Cool for the Summer” and “Confident” have each been certified five-times Platinum by the RIAA.

The certifications were presented to Lovato by Disney Music Group president Ken Bunt ahead of the Los Angeles premiere of Camp Rock 3 on Monday, Aug. 10. The film is set to premiere Thursday, Aug. 13 on Disney Channel and the next day on Disney+.

“Cool for the Summer” was released in July 2015 as the lead single from Lovato’s album Confident and peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The title track “Confident” reached No. 21 later that year, while the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earned a Grammy nomination for best pop vocal album.

The two new certifications add to Lovato’s list of major RIAA achievements. Billboard notes that “Sorry Not Sorry” is certified seven-times Platinum and “Heart Attack” is certified six-times Platinum.

In Camp Rock 3, Lovato returns as Mitchie Torres and also serves as an executive producer. The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008.
