Carly Simon Releases New Song 'Peaches' After Parkinson's Diagnosis

Carly Simon has released a new single called “Peaches” just days after publicly revealing that she has Parkinson’s disease, according to Rolling Stone.

The song opens with Simon singing about peaches growing on her trees, and a statement describes the track as reflecting the disconnect between what should feel natural and the parts of life that do not easily cooperate.

“Peaches” is the second song released from Simon’s upcoming album Comes in Waves, following the earlier single “Howl.” The album is set for release Aug. 14 and will be Simon’s first in nearly 20 years, following 2009’s Never Been Gone.

Simon said Monday that Parkinson’s has been difficult to adjust to and that the illness affects her energy and ability to work from day to day. She also said she recently treated basal cell carcinoma on her face and admitted that both health issues led her to step back from public view.

Comes in Waves includes nine new original songs, along with a couple of pieces Simon wrote earlier in life and later returned to finish, according to her comments in the Rolling Stone report.
