Green Day’s road trip movie Nimrods is inching closer to release, and the band marked the occasion with a surprise event at San Diego Comic-Con, according to Stereogum.
The event featured The Coverups, Green Day’s side project that plays classic rock covers. The group has been performing songs by other artists, including Nirvana’s "Drain You," which they dedicated earlier this week to late L7 bassist Jennifer Finch.
During the Comic-Con performance, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson joined the band onstage. Together they played "All the Young Dudes," the David Bowie song that became a hit for Mott the Hoople.
Stereogum notes that Dickinson also recorded his own version of the song on his 1990 solo album Tattooed Millionaire.
