Brian Molko, Peaches, Nadine Shah and other guests performed David Bowie songs at London’s Southbank Centre on Saturday night, July 11, in a one-off celebration of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, according to NME.
For the event, British solo artist and composer Fiona Brice reimagined the 1972 album, arranging and orchestrating the material for a lineup of guest singers. Beth Greenacre, who worked with Bowie as curator of his art collection for more than 16 years, served as visual director.
Molko performed versions of “Space Oddity,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide” and “Moonage Daydream,” while Nadine Shah sang “Suffragette City.” Peaches performed “Five Years” and “Ziggy Stardust,” and other artists including Patrick Wolf, Camille O’Sullivan, Tawiah and David McAlmont also took part.
The NME report also noted Molko’s long connection to Bowie. Bowie supported Placebo early in their career, invited them on tour, and later recorded the 1998 collaboration “Without You I’m Nothing” with the band.
